Next time there's a big patch followed by server server issues, I hope you don't complain about large petition queues when 30,000 players all "carelessly" lose all of their insured battleships. We all know everyone will be expecting the ships/items back plus no recovery of insurance.
You've set a stupid precedent whereby all future replacement decisions will be gauged against this one.
CCP, meet can of worms.

Originally by: Wraeththu Not that I'm too hot about this, but in an attempt at fairness:
CCP? How about you give the person who got the final kill on every ship lost during that time period, a duplicate ship to what you reimbursed the victim with?
For all the people that lost their ship due to CONCORD ganking, or lag, or whatever, that won't affect the economy in the least bit, as the NPCs aren't going to exploit their new ships.
For all those people who lost their ships to PvP? Well, it's completely fair. They get thier ship back, and their enemy is compensated for the loss.
The whole point of this exercise was to reduce workload so something like that would defeat the purpose of it all.....

Originally by: Discorporation No Rod, spamming the petition queue is a retarded idea. It'll damage us more then this reimbursement mishap and could lose us accounts.
I can understand why CCP made the decision, btw. I work on a helpdesk myself, it's NOT good to have things waiting 2 weeks.
I'd rather a wait of 2 weeks than have every Tom, Dirk, and Harry waiting for server issues to hit the game and purposely losing a ship just to make 34+M isk.
We ALL know it will happen.

I didnt (and havent) played EVE barely at all because the servers suck so bad, can I please have the billion isk I would have made npc'ing in that time ??
To say this is an ill thought out lazy fix is an understatement. All those who chose to PVP and lost can now laugh in their superior opponents faces.
Ditto here.
I played it safe and, considering npc hunting and agent missions are all I do, the server issues and agent bugs severely affected my gameplay.
Plz donate 500M isk to my account.

What is even stranger is that the forums weren't even full of, "I sent in a petition two weeks ago and..." type posts.
You'd think this sort of action would come hard on the heels of a mass player protest but it wasn't.
All it has done has caused a mass player protest.

This isn't a mass player protest. These are the usual hotheads who like complaining. They're all wrong. I can't velieve how much effort is put into whining by all these supposedly established EVE players. Shame on you! This is all small potatoes, you'll wake up in a couple of days all cried out and not even remember ehy you were so upset. I mean for ****'s sake.
It's (this thread) grown to 15 pages in the space of 24 hours.
That's a sign that something has gone exceedingly right or exceedinly wrong.....

Don't get me wrong, Spanker - I've had very good results from petitioning for ships lost due to a bug but I've also had very bad results (I lost a Scorpion after my cruise missile hit a n00b Velator which resulted in 6 sentry guns ripping me open - ask Lordof Redemtpion 'cause he's the one who was meant to receive the cruise missile).
I'm not so sure this will all be forgotten. Next big patch and we'll all have memories like elephants while we queue up to leap into a lagfest blob war with our 100% insurance.

Someone, I forget who, mentioned that there is no precedent set here.
How did you come to that conclusion?
GM's have shown they will make rash decisions when the "pressure" of a growing petition queue floods their resources.
This rash decision will be EASIER to make a 2nd time and that makes it much more likely to happen again.
